Here's some information about us as individuals. The bios are expandable - click on the avatars to see more!

Do note that this isn't everyone in our system, just the people who are comfortable being known to the outside world.

All profile images were commissioned from the talented Sorotrax! Here's their Twitter, and here's their website if Twitter's broken again.

Phosphor

Tag: P.

they/them, he/him

An anime anti-villain, born into the wrong world yet making do.

"I may not be of this world, but I am still part of it."

If you've spoken to us, then you've probably met Phosphor. They're the Extraversion Georg of the system, who talks to dozens of people each day and is an outlier who should not be counted. Intense, cynical, but well-meaning, they take the lead in much of our day-to-day life, from work to network(ing).

They're also the reason this site (mostly) works on mobile. You're welcome.

Bastion

Tag: B.

he/him

A dragon whose treasure is his people, and whose lair is his solitude.

"True strength does not feel the need to lord itself over others."

Quiet but aware, Bastion is the other headmate who's nearly always at front. He tends not to speak to people on the outside, mostly because he doesn't see a reason to. When he's not getting the rest of the system to take care of themselves, he enjoys musing, meditation, and Certified Gaming(tm).

Also, according to our friends, he makes some really good breakfast potatoes.

Lark

Tag: Lk.

he/him, they/them

N/A

Seeker, witness, and keeper of unspoken stories.

"I am a story, but so are you. So is everyone."

Lark did a stint as an imaginary friend for over a decade and a half. (Then we realized that most imaginary friends don't talk back.) Fittingly, he now spends his time making his own stories. His favorite kind of writing is prose that reads like poetry - Fallen London being a prime example - and he would like to make a zine about illusionists someday.

Like Bastion and Phosphor, he's often at front, but he's also deeply, deeply averse to the mortifying ordeal of being perceived. (He's trying to be better about that.)

Frost

Tag: Fr.

he/him

N/A

An advocate who hungers for new horizons, within and without.

"We never finish becoming. I want to embrace that."

"The one who got us to stop doubting our plurality," Frost is also known for adopting at least two in-system siblings and organizing our first internal support group. Despite that, his greatest aspiration is to see the world. Sharing a chronically ill body with other people complicates that, but he has faith we'll figure things out.

He's said that if he ever got his own body, he'd leave on his journey right away - but he's promised to send postcards.

Capella

Tag: Ca.

she/her

N/A

She strives for adventure, undeterred, in an increasingly stifling world.

"No matter what happens, I know there'll always be something in the world that I can love."

Capella is something of an adoptive younger sister to the rest of us. She's also, unexpectedly, an administrative powerhouse. Outside of tag-teaming on taxes, she spends her time exploring our innerworld and finding delight everywhere, even in the mundane.

Her least fond memory would be the time she attempted to moderate a subreddit. (She didn't even get to ban anyone!)

Viola

Tag: Vi.

she/her

N/A

An emigrant from the thin places.

"We know ourselves in the spaces between; in the places where words fail."

Both old and new, Viola recently returned to us after a years-long, self-imposed dormancy. She possesses a deep affinity for the mystical and the surreal, which she puts to good use in her hobbies - stargazing, organizing in-system LARPs, and helping people commune with their inner demons.

Her usual response to questions like "What's your gender?" is an amused "Hmm." - and nothing else.

Seren

Tag: S.

she/her

N/A

A sorceress of the modern age, answering her DMs from atop her tower.

"I'd say 'I just work here,' but that'd be a lie. I live here, too."

Everyone in our head can code, but Seren is one of the three people who can Think Like An Engineer. She hauled us through a fair amount of our day job before getting fed up with the people aspects of it. She still comes by to help when she can - as long as there aren't any meetings that could have been emails.

Once upon a time, she did a live playthrough of the Colonel Sanders dating sim for our outerworld friends. It ended abruptly after the MC became one with fried chicken and eternity.

Marquis

Tag: Mq.

he/him

N/A

Retired go-getter. Flamboyant recluse. Knife appreciator.

"I thought that I wanted to be admired. What I truly wanted was to prove myself to those who didn't matter."

Creative, determined, and dazzling, Marquis hauled us through several semesters of college, ever hungry to know and master more of the world. Then he burned out, spectacularly. Now, he's enjoying an uneventful retirement in headspace.

In his self-portraits, he always drew himself with his eyes hidden. We hardly draw these days, but we continue that tradition for him when we do.

Feldspar

Tag: Fd.

he/him

N/A

A loner now, a teacher back then - and perhaps, one day, again.

"There are things that I'd like to learn how to make, so that they'll always be with me."

Like Marquis, his close friend, Feldspar was instrumental to us surviving college as long as we did. He's also since retired to headspace, in part because he didn't know to make of himself post-academia. For now, he finds meaning in the quieter, gentler parts of life - in shaded gardens, warm drinks, and the sleepy pattering of rainy mornings.

He's one of the few headmates who's able to change his internal form at will. Word on the street is that his most recent one is "exceedingly huggable."

Why don't the others in your system want to be listed?
  • They don't feel like it.

  • They're shy.

  • They don't trust people to not be Weird about them.

  • Some secret other things.

Is this what y'all look like inside?

The artwork? Nah, it's symbolic.

Are these your actual names?

They're the names that we use for outerworld stuff, kind of like screennames. We have different, "true" names that we only use between ourselves.

[Headmate] is good at [thing], does that mean they're your [protector/caretaker/other system role]?

We don't have roles. We also don't want roles. Please don't assign them to us.

It's true that some of us have a knack for specific things. However, if someone in a house likes to clean, that doesn't mean that they're now "the housekeeper." It's the same way with us.

I have other questions.

Check the Field Guide! If it's not answered there, you can ask us.

Phosphor: Sage

Bastion: Scholar and Dark Knight

Lark: Bard

Capella: Reaper

Viola: Dancer

Seren: Black Mage and Astrologian

Marquis: Summoner

Frost is undecided. However, since the rest of us can make a valid full party, we have henceforth designated him the "ninth man."

More to be added as we think of them...
